This is a bright, rich and fresh Chardonnay from the Mormann Vineyard. It is located in the cool Santa Rita Hills and the vines are planted in sand. The vines struggle to survive in this environment but produce cool climate Chardonnay with apple, pear and mineral notes with excellent acidity and mouthfeel. This wine was whole cluster pressed, barrel fermented and aged in all French oak, sur lie, for 12 months prior to being bottled. The lees were stirred monthly to retain freshness and coax out a subtle nuttiness from the wine. It is pale yellow in color with wonderful richness and will pair well with hearty cream based soups or local white fish with a butter sauce.
