2014 Pinot Noir, Buona Terra Vineyard

This Pinot Noir is also from the Sta. Rita Hills. This vineyard is located off of Sweeney Canyon Road and has a southern exposure.  The vineyard was planted in 2008 and is very sandy and very cool. These are some of the highest quality of Pinot grapes produced in the area and create a very elegant, feminine style of Pinot Noir.  It is fermented with 20% whole-cluster and aged in 100% French oak for over 16 months.

2014 Mormann Vineyard, Pinot Noir

The Mormann vineyard is in the Santa Rita Hills and these vines are planted in beach sand. There are very little nutrients and the water is quickly leached from the soils leading to very low vigor but intense flavors and aromas. This wine is aged 100% French Oak for 16 months and has gorgeous red and dark fruit aromas and flavors that make it easy to enjoy on its own or pair with Salmon or your favorite pork preparation.

2014 Zotovich Vineyard Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is one of the most noble grape varietals in the world with the longest history in Burgundy. The Zotovich Vineyard is one of the leading sites in the Santa Rita Hills! I also make a Zotovich Vineyard Syrah for Blair Fox Cellars. These vines are planted in beach sand and the majority of this vineyard is flat, while the days are warm and foggy with very cool nights. It was fermented in a small 1.5-ton fermentor with 30% whole-cluster and 90% whole-berry. It was punched down by hand one to three times per day, basket pressed and aged in older French oak for 16 months prior to being bottled.

This is a crisp, bright, refreshing Sauvignon Blanc from Curtis Vineyard in Santa Barbara County right up Foxen Canyon Road. These grapes come from very old vines and create wines with beautiful flavors and vibrant, fresh, natural acidity. This wine was fermented cool in neutral French Oak and then aged for 5 months prior to being bottled. It is pale yellow with fresh gooseberry, passion fruit and a hint of fresh cut grass.

2014 Verna’s Vineyard Pinot Noir

Verna’s Vineyard was originally planted by the Melville Family in early 2000.  This vineyard has garnered extraordinary scores from the press year in and year out and produces amazing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah.  We were lucky enough in 2014 to get some of the 828 clone of Pinot Noir from a sandy, south facing hillside of this property.  The site is located right outside the small town of Los Alamos and is much cooler than the Santa Ynez Valley but also warmer than Santa Rita Hills and Santa Maria.  This makes for a delicious, fruit forward Pinot Noir with loads of black cherry, strawberry and red raspberry along with hints of vanilla and cranberry.  It was fermented in a small 1-ton fermentor with 30%  whole-clusters and 80%  whole-berry.  It was punched down by hand three to four times per day, basket pressed and aged in older French oak for 16 months prior to being bottled. 107 cases produced.
