Winemaking: Every year, we look so forward to release the Linger. This is our most limited wine that we make almost exclusively for our wine club. Only two barrels are used to make this opaque, silky powerhouse: our best barrel of Syrah and our best barrel of Petite Sirah all from our estate vineyard, Fox Family Vineyard. With only 50 cases of this 50/50 blend, we never pour it in the tasting room, but keep all of the bottles for our Linger fans to enjoy with family and friends. With its bold palete and long finish, this is a wine that could be savored now, but will really shine with a few years resting in the bottle. But beware, this wine does sell out quickly! Reserve your bottles today to ponder one of life's big questions....
Is it the Syrah or the Petite Sirah that makes you want to Linger over another bottle?
This is a tiny, two-barrel selection of what I feel were the best single barrels of 470 clone Syrah and "Rockpile" clone Petite Sirah from my Estate vineyard in Los Olivos. 2020 was an interesting year and vintage with fires to the North and a number of extreme heat waves throughout the State. The resultant wines possessed beautiful texture, weight and concentration with fresh, bright acidity and gorgeous purity of fruit. The grapes were all hand harvested, sorted and predominately destemmed without crushing, leaving approximately 90% whole berries. After a 4–6-day cold soak, the grapes were punched down by hand one to three times per day until fermentation was complete. The must was basket pressed and settled before being racked to barrel for aging. This wine was blended and bottled in February of 2023 after being aged in exclusively French oak (Francois Freres and T. Mercurey) for twenty-eight months.
Bottle Aging: Enjoy now or age for 10+ years
