2013 Basler Block Zinfandel
The Basler Block is named after my grandparents, Vance and Carole Basler. The were both the children of immigrants who grew up in a small, rural farming town in Iowa. Ifeel it is from them whome I acquired an innate ability to farm. This is the second release of ZInfandel from the Fox Family Vineyard. With the ideal growing conditions, the 2013 Zinfandel was able to fully ripen and demonstrate the unique attributes of this historic varietal. The cuttings came from the St. Peters Church clone produced over one hundred years ago and isolated from the Rockpile Vineyard in Sonoma. It is grown head trained, on a 6 by 6 spacing, in a south facing bowl of the organically farmed Fox Family Vineyard. It was aged in a combination of French and American oak and bottled after 22 months of barrel aging in August of 2014. 88 cases produced.
